Recently Abila, the successor organization of Sage Nonprofit Solutions, concluded a re-branding of all its software products. Most recently we posted that the new name of the venerable MIP Fund Accounting product was Abila Fund Accounting 100. Well, that was premature. Officially as of October 16 the new and permanent name is Abila MIP Fund Accounting. Despite attempts by Sage and later, Abila, to deep-six the ‘MIP’ part of the name, most satisfied long-time users and prospects still referred to it as MIP. There is general recognition in the nonprofit and governmental financial management communities that the software sets the standard for functionality and support. Changing the name to satisfy some questionable corporate marketing ploy would seem to weaken its well-deserved reputation. To their credit Abila recognized this reality and did the right thing. And they have a sense of humor, you need to view this video about the history of MIP. Click here to read the press release.
