Thank you for taking advantage of NFP Partners‘ free accountability Kit. We are making this available to nonprofit organizations that are committed to implementing accountability and transparency in their governance, and can benefit from using a set of sample documents and a framework.
As the organizational framework of the kit implies, we suggest that you file a paper copy of each narrative section or document under a tab in a loose-leaf binder, and make that available in your office for review by employees, officers, directors, and other stakeholders. Further we suggest that you post the PDF version of the kit on your website with links from the table of contents to the specific sections and document. We have included the common governance documents that are fairly generic to any nonprofit organization. You have full liberty to edit the documents to reflect your culture, terminology, and special needs. We have suggested additional documents in the framework that are specific to your organization (e.g., corporate by-laws, audit reports, annual report, etc.) and likely already exist. In the kit we have suggested placing responsibility for implementation and enforcement with the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. We realize this may not be practical for all organizations. The main thing is that the Board commits to accountability and transparency and that qualified individuals be assigned responsibility to execute.
